Although I am looking at the genre of film noir, there are still different variations of the genre within, some noticeably vary because of the time of which they were filmed whereas others vary due to the storyline behind them. I have noticed that technology plays a key part in most successful films; therefore, this will be an important aspect of the trailer.

To vary my research into the genre and increase my background knowledge I decided to go back to 1947 to analyse the film Brighton rock.

Although there is no trailer available for Brighton rock, I still feel that the first part of the film will be relevant to my project as it shows a contrast in content to that of ‘Lockstock and two smoking barrels’. I am going to pick the bits of Brighton rock and also comment on the parts I do not like, this way I can avoid making mistakes in my own project.

  1. You clearly have some interesting thoughts on what can be used in your film, Mitch, but as yet I have no clue as to what you are making - is there a synopsis of your film, a storyboard of your trailer or an animatic? Has any filming been done yet? What about a soundtrack? If not, why not - you are once more running out of time!
